2026 agm voting
veto:
Vetos have been the main topic of discussion since we started the redraft league. This year, we tried to go with a full unanimous decision with the league, which was 10-0. However, while there was one successful veto, there were trades made that maybe shouldn’t have been, but at the same time, the argument still comes up: Is it other managers’ jobs to “babysit” other teams? Ultimately, we will be changing our veto process to requiring 8 votes instead of 10, leaving room for 2 people to still uphold. I’m hoping this will still keep vetos low and not abused, but we will try this out and see if this works better.
Result: 8 required votes, 7-3-2
First down bonus points:
Another widely discussed topic throughout the season is the bonus points players receive for first downs. While we all love points, it does become a little randomized watching a game and seeing your player catch a pass for 12 yards, which we all know is 2.2 points, but then adding 0.5 points for a first down. I think it became a minor detail as the season went on, which is clear based on the vote. We will continue to have first down points going forward.
Result: Approved, 8-4.
New payout proposal:
An interesting idea that I came across was that some people do different payouts throughout the season, so teams that aren’t in win-now mode can still make some cash and have something to play for. That’s why I added the highest scoring team each week wins $10, which worked great. However, only CJ and Tristan won once, and all of the rest were playoff teams. So, I wanted to propose the idea that if everyone can “bet” on the games and it’s a bit more randomized, that might be better for the worst teams. While I do think that bad teams can still explode for 150-200 points, I wanted to see if you all would want it to be a bit more balanced and random. However, we will continue to use the current payout structure of the highest scoring team each week, as ties are ultimately denied.
Result: Denied, 6-6.
Team captains:
This new rule proposal would allow teams to choose 1 player every season to score 2x points. Many other leagues do something similar, but have it where you nominate 1 player each week but cannot repeat players throughout the season. I did end up regretting proposing this, as I don’t think it would work the way we wanted it to because the “rich get richer” ideology. If Denny put 2x on CMC, the best overall player in the league, he would’ve scored 935 points, where if Bruno put Justin Jefferson, he would’ve scored 448. That gives teams who poorly choose their Team Captain a massive disadvantage, and it no longer becomes about managing teams better but simply who chose the best Team Captain. Thankfully, this rule was not approved so we don’t have to worry about this.
Result: Denied, 6-6.
6th playoff team:
Another issue that comes up in fantasy is that there’s a better team that doesn’t make the playoffs just because they got unlucky in their scheduling and score more points. This proposal was that the 6th seed would be the highest scoring team within the 6-12 ranked teams. I think this is self-explanatory and doesn’t need much explaining, but it was denied, so the seeding will remain as normal.
IDP:
This was a fun proposal, adding Individual Defensive Players to our rosters. The idea was to increase scoring and add some more players for us to be able to trade and draft, but obviously, it’s a big change-up to add 4 new starters and expand our bench. I wanted to propose this now rather than later, as 5 years down the road, this would be unrealistic to add since we’ve fully defined our teams and the league is completely set in stone. Surprisingly, this was not pushed through and will not be added to the league.
Result: Denied, 8-4.
unique flex spot:
Another change-up I saw other leagues use is having a flex spot that has a player that fits specific guidelines. Age, race, features, etc. were all different concepts that other leagues used, so I thought it might be fun to add an additional lineup spot with this flex position. This was ultimately denied in a close vote.
Result: Denied, 4-3-3-2
This was a bit of a slower and less impactful yearly vote than some we’ve had in the past, but that just means that the league is going well and there isn’t much to change! All comments that were left in the final section of the form will be discussed in person during the draft weekend, so that each person can make their case and bring it up to the league, rather than having me try to represent them and their ideas. If anything else comes up that you would like to bring up, this form will remain open and you can submit anything at any time. Lots of great ideas and I’m excited to have the discussions.
The only change made to the league going forward:
- Vetos are now 8 required votes, not 10
